A passionate advocate for healthier communities and youth empowerment, Summer Balfanz contributes to the Minnesotans for a Smoke Free Generation initiative. As a student coalition member, she represents Roseville in statewide efforts to raise awareness about the dangers of teen smoking and vaping. Summer Balfanz' artwork has been selected for a statewide public awareness campaign as part of these efforts.

Summer Balfanz also participates in extracurricular activities at a Roseville area high school. As a member of the speech team, she has earned recognition including 1st Place at the 2023 Star Tribune Eastview Lightning Classic and the Best First-Year Teammate award. She also competes in cross-country running and Nordic skiing, while maintaining a spot on the Honor Roll.

In her personal time, Summer Balfanz enjoys traveling to national parks like Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon. She has a strong interest in literature and other writing, including historical fiction and comics, and draws inspiration from international authors. Her hobbies include cooking, hiking, and listening to music, with Bob Dylan and The Replacements being among her favorites.
